Project Description: In an ongoing effort to revitalize the Borough, the Borough Council, with the assistance of C.S. Davidson, Inc., successfully pursued federal grants to increase the safety of pedestrians, control storm water, and improve the appearance of the Borough's streetscape. The Borough Square improvements represent the latest of the Borough's efforts to revitalize the four main thoroughfares through Jefferson. As the focal point of the Borough, the square is the centerpiece of the community including several small businesses, parking, and a commons area containing the Borough's "Dough Boy" war memorial statue. Improvements include several new planting areas, new curb and sidewalk, removal of an existing open gutter and reconstruction and overlay of the four parking areas in the square. Curbing and drainage improvements were incorporated into the project in order to carry storm water directly into a nearby creek.
