C.S. Davidson, Inc., an employee-owned consulting engineering firm with offices in Gettysburg, York and Lancaster, is pleased to announce that construction began Monday, May 23rd, on the North Gettysburg Area Trail. This is a project of the County of Adams, and will consist of a 4,800 foot long bike and pedestrian pathway beginning on East Broadway in Gettysburg Borough, running north along Old Harrisburg Road, and ending at Gettysburg High School. The trail connects Gettysburg Borough with portions of Cumberland and Straban Townships, as well as the Gettysburg National Military Park and the Gettysburg High School. Planning efforts required close coordination among these municipalities, as well as Gettysburg Area School District, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the National Park Service.
C.S. Davidson provided survey and civil engineering services for the project, including trail design, bidding specifications, construction stakeout, construction administration and overall project management. Kinsley Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed in September 2011.
