C.S. Davidson has been nationally recognized with the 2012 IDEAS2 Award for excellence in steel-frame building design from the American Institute of Steel Construction. C.S. Davidson receives this prestigious award for their part in the winning team that completed the Penn State Millennium Science Center.
C.S. Davidson received the Merit award in the category of “Projects Costing Greater than $75 million” for their work as the Steel Connections Engineer on the award-winning project. The Penn State Millennium Science Center project is one of only six projects nationwide that are to receive this honor.
The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) honors engineering firms every year that perform dynamic work in the fabricated structural steel industry. The IDEAS2 Award is the highest, most prestigious project-based award given by the structural steel industry in the United States.
“The Millennium Science Center project was a very rewarding project to work on because of how complex and challenging the steel connections were to design,” said David G. Durst, P.E., project manager at C.S. Davidson. “We not only had to consider the design loads, which in some cases were over 4 million pounds, but also how the connections would affect the overall steel fabrication, shipping, and erection processes.”
Project team members included David Durst and Daniel Sheakley.
